Angel's Tips for Long-Lasting Fresh Flowers

We want you to get the most life out of your fresh-cut flowers. In this video, Angel demonstrates some easy steps you can take to lengthen the life of your fresh stems. Plus, you can download and print the tip sheet below as an easy reminder of what to do when you get your beautiful blooms home! 

1. Make sure your vessel is perfectly clean. Any dirt left behind will promote bacterial growth and shorten the life of your flowers.
2. Give your flowers a fresh, diagonal cut using a sharp knife before putting them in your vase. (Avoid using scissors as they tend to crush the stem and prohibit water uptake.)
3. Keep foliage out of the water as this will dirty the water faster. Remove any leaves that will fall below the water line.
4. Fill your vessel with plenty of water as many flowers take water in through the wall of the stem as well as through the cut end.
5. Check your water every few days. If it looks dirty, carefully drain and refill until the water looks clean.
6. Check every few days for flowers/foliage that have perished and remove them. Re-distribute your flowers into smaller vessels as needed.
